Houses, furniture or items of daily life - design as we know it today was mainly defined by the most influential school of design - the Bauhaus!

The worldwide biggest collection on the history of the Bauhaus is home to the Bauhaus-Archive – Museum für Gestaltung in berlib. The shown exhibits give an insight into the history of this world-famous design school.

Numerious documents and photos make life and work of the famous Bauhaus teachers and their students come alive. The names that have left the largest impression on the school like Walter Gropius, Lyonel Feiniger, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy or Vassily Kandinsky, to name but a few, are extensively documented in the archive. Various temporary exhibitions are dedicated to contemporaneous subjects from architecture, design and composition.

Since the intersting in Bauhaus and also the number of visitors to the archive are growing incessantly, the Bauhaus-Archive will relocation into a new building for the Bauhaus centenary in 2019.
