Mitte

Two skulls flank the entrance to the Last Cathedral, a dimly-lit flight of stairs takes you underground...

The Last Cathedral is a horror rock bar in Schönhauser Allee. Even from the outside it’ll remind you of a dark tomb. A staircase is leading you downstairs where a big bar and a dance floor are waiting for you. Plastic skulls, neon bats and Chinese dragons can be found in every corner. It’s pretty dark down there. The music playing is a mix of Gothic Rock, Dark wave and EBM. Waiters are dressed from head to toe in all black. The bar is illuminated by candles you’ll usually find on German cemeteries. It somehow feels like paying Dracula a visit.

The bar with its scary wonderful atmosphere already hosted after show parties of bands like Rammstein and In Extremo. Medieval and horror rock events like “Rock Metal Mania”, “Night of Vampire” or “Bloodnight” take place on a regular basis.

Off the beaten tracks of the common Mitte chic the bar shows of its very own charms which make it a hot spot for Berlin’s Gothic community as well as tourists and night owls looking for a special way to party. Their outfits often look quite arty, including masks and such things. But despite its dark atmosphere the mood inside the bar and club is quite light. You’ll find it easy to connect with the other folks around.
