Prenzlauer Berg

The Mondo Sardo is a classic Italian restaurant with Sardinian specialities, located in Prenzlauer Berg's Winsstraßen neighbourhood.

The Italian island of Sardinia, the neighbour to the South of French island Corsica not only has its own language with Sardinian but stands as well for its own way of Italian cuisine. Located in the Winsstraßen neighbourhood of Prenzlauer Berg, the Mondo Sardo brings Sardinia to Berlin with its own interpretation of Italian classics. Their permanent menu of this italian restaurant is quite small but select and they have also weekly specials. Add to that a tank with fresh fish and a daily changing offer of fresh fish, crustaceans and seafood.

Very recommendable is the Sardinian house wine of the restaurant, the white Vermentino di Gallura or a Cannonau, as a strong red wine. There is daily fresh fish and various Sardinian specialities like Bottarga, the dried roe of the mullet, or Fregola, little balls of roasted durum wheat with crustaceans or Malloreddus, type of scone-shaped pasta from Sardinia.

As a digestif you should try and ice-cold Mirto at the Mondo Sardo, a dark licor made of myrtle, another Sardinian special.
