Charlottenburgs’s Italian Restaurant 12 Apostel is really not an insiders’ tip anymore, this location figures among the established classics which have uphelp their level of quality over years. When the restaurant opened 20 years ago, their biggest innovation was the brick-oven pizza, up to then unheard of in Berlin. They opened their first dependancy on Bleibtreustraße in 1994 and a little later the 12 Apostel set up shop in Mitte, close to Pergamonmuseum. Their pizza is still one of the best in Berlin. The pizza is big, the self-made dough of finest ingredients gives a thin and crunchy crust. Their toppings include such trears as salmon, shrimp, crème fraiche and fresh rucola.
What makes this restaurant so special is not only their great pizza but the cosy atmosphere with the dark wooden chairs, a counter with wood carvings and the murals with biblical scenes. Though the 12 Apostel is famous for its pizza, they also know how to score big time with other Italian cuisine, pasta, fish and meat and Italian salads. In summer, you can enjoy the nice weather on the patio terrace, unharmed by traffic noise.
